Allison Chinchar works as a weather forecaster for CNN and HLN. The station airs her regularly on CNN's "New Day Weekend" and HLN's "Weekend Express', as well in CNN International programming. Before joining CNN in June 2015, she served as a meteorologist at regional stations located in Atlanta, Nashville, and Chattanooga, Tennessee. She's reported on every aspect of hurricanes, blizzards storms, flooding, and wildfires, receiving the Emmy nod for her coverage of Hurricane Dorian that hit the Bahamas in the year 2019. The coverage she provided of the Super Tornado Outbreak of April 2011, in which over 350 tornadoes were recorded in the Southeastern United States over a time period of four days, 200 taking place on April 27, was nominated as well for Emmy. Because of her training in environmental science, she's also covered volcanoes, earthquakes and other natural catastrophes and news about climate change. Chinchar has a Bachelors of Science in Atmospheric Science. She graduated from The Ohio State University. She is also a member of the American Meteorological Society, the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society as well as the National Weather Association, and the International Association of Broadcast Meteorology.
